Back to Reality

Really? Is this what we have to look forward to for the foreseeable future in this country? I mean, I get the whole social(ist) agenda, and the utopian dream of a world where all people live together as brothers and sisters (the loving kind, who support each other, as in emotionally and morale-wise, not just materially and labor-wise) and a kindly and benevolent leader tells us when and where to do what, but also makes sure that we all have three fiber-rich meals per day and a comfortable place to sleep. I dreamed of it myself, from ages (approximately) 16 through 23 or so. I eventually grew to realise that that only works on Star Trek, that men’s hearts yearn for more, that you can only make that succeed if everyone agrees to contribute equally and not to seek more than their "fair" share.

I would hope that all those who would desire a position "above" the rest of us, would consider the words of Jesus, who said, "…And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all." (Mark 10:44, NKJV)

Another thing I hope, is that when conservatives begin talking about what they will do, better than what has been done by either side over the past 20 years, they will do so without the namecalling and accusations that have typified the political discourse for so long. Yes, defend the agenda and the plan. But not by heaving the mud back over the fence; rather, by pointing out the benefits to all brought about when those plans and agendas have succeeded in the past, and by constantly reassuring us that you intend to follow the agenda once they get to Washington.

What a time!!

We’re back in Vancouver after 19 days vacationing at the beach. We had a nice house rented out at Road’s End, in Lincoln City. Deb and I spent a few days by ourselves before Jayne and Dakota joined us. We also had Kerrie and Elise visit a couple of days. They were staying at a motel nearby. Kerrie was kind enough to come and make tacos for us one night, and we also joined the two of them at Pier 101 for dinner. The day after they went home, Jenn and the kids came to town. It’s always a riot with Seth and Olivia doing somersaults throughout the house. We went to the Coast Aquarium and spent lots of money and saw lots of fishes. They left on Friday, Jayne and Dakota left on Sunday, and Deb and I had the house all to ourselves for another three days before we had to head home.

Gotta Start Somewhere

It’s almost embarassing that I have not started a blog before now. Please forgive me, everyone.

Thank you for your patience. I’ll try to be more conscientious from now on.
